The UGHE Office of Admissions approaches the admissions process in a comprehensive manner. The Admissions Committee considers a variety of applicant criteria, including extra documents, professional experience, tests, interviews, and overall compatibility with the UGHE's goal and vision.

Benefits of UGHE Masters Scholarship

  1. The University of Global Health Equity offers a full tuition scholarship for the Masters in Global Nursing Leadership program. This covers 100% of tuition costs. Scholarship recipients must commit to completing the program or they will be required to refund UGHE for the full scholarship amount.
  2. 80% of the MGNL coursework is delivered online. Students need reliable internet access and functional computers. Exams are held in-person at the UGHE campus in Butaro, Rwanda for 2 weeks each semester.
  3. Students are responsible for all costs outside of the UGHE campus, including airfare to/from Rwanda, lodging, meals, and visa fees when not on campus. Students should also bring personal items and toiletries, as UGHE does not provide a living stipend.

Requirements for UGHE Masters Scholarship

Admission to the Masters in Global Nursing Leadership requires the student to meet the minimum admission requirements for graduate study of the University of Global Health Equity and the following requirements of the Center for Nursing and Midwifery:

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program            
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience as a registered nurse (RN)
  • Currently employed.
  • Current non – restricted registered nurse(RN) practice license
  • Letter from current employer stating support for graduate study
  • Two professional referees
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A state of purpose essay describing the applicant’s interest in nursing leadership and the MGNL’s relationship to those goals
  • A personal interview with UGHE graduate faculty

Important Dates for the MGNL Class of 2026 Admissions Process 

Please be mindful of the following dates. All candidates who advance in the process will be required to sit for an entrance exam and an admissions interview, per the schedule below.
