UNILAG Temporarily Stops Exam Due to Disruption: The University of Lagos recently announced the suspension of its General Studies (GST) exam for the first semester after reports of disorderliness and fainting students at one exam venue. According to the university's spokesperson, the incident occurred at the Distance Learning Institute computer-based test center. Several students were injured or lost consciousness while trying to enter the crowded exam hall. The university expressed concern over the situation and said steps are being taken to improve the exam system.
In a statement, the management explained they decided to suspend the exam after reviewing the challenges over the past two days. They regretted any inconvenience caused and promised to announce a new exam date. The Parents Forum acknowledged students' dissatisfaction with the exam experiences and urged calm while appropriate measures are taken to resolve the issues.
Additionally, a student group demanded halting all exams until conditions improve and more infrastructure like lighting, water and spacious halls are provided. They threatened mass action if fees are not reversed, saying there is no justification for the hike.
